Roger Huerta is returning to Bellator. “El Matador” has been announced as the new main for Bellator 196 on 6 April in Budapest, where he will face former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson.
The bout, announced on The MMA Hour, replaces James Gallagher, who was due to face Adam Borics, but pulled out with a hand injury.
Huerta last fought inside the Bellator cage in 2010, where he faced Eddie Alvarez in the main event of Bellator 33. Following that fight, the Thailand-trained Huerta took one fight with Ultimate Warrior Fighting before signing with ONE Championship.
Last December he took a fight at Phoenix FC 4 in Dubai and picked up a win over Hayder Hassan, who was disqualified for illegal elbows.
Since moving to Bellator in early 2016, Henderson has lost three out of his four bouts and will no doubt be keen to get back into the winning column.
