Just days after defending her atomweight title, Angela Lee will again put her title on the line against unbeaten Brazilian prospect Istela Nunes in the main event of ONE: Dynasty of Heroes on 26 May in Singapore.
Lee (7-0) defeated Jenny Huang via third-round submission (punches) last Saturday in Bangkok, the first title defense for the Hawaii resident.
Nunes, a two-time Muay Thai world champion with an unblemished professional record of five wins, most recently stopped Mei Yamaguchi with a closely-contested split decision win.
After capturing the inaugural women’s atomweight title with a victory over Mei Yamaguchi in 2016, Lee waited almost a year until defending her belt. The quick turnaround for Singapore is something she made clear ahead of her Bangkok bout.
“I said at the beginning of the year that I will make 2017 one to remember,” Lee said.
“I will keep my promise of being as active as I possibly can and I can’t wait to get right back in there.
“I’m ready to do it again. Istela Nunes had better be ready to go to battle, because this time I’m defending the title on my turf.”
The 20-year-old Lee has been a breakout star for ONE Championship, who returns to Singapore weeks ahead of the UFC which is making its own return to the Lion City on 17 June.
