Former UFC lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos (25-9) will make his welterweight debut against Tarec Saffiedine at UFC Fight Night Singapore on 17 June.
Dos Anjos is coming of two back-to-back losses against Tony Ferguson and Eddie Alvarez, but is widely regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound lightweight fighters.
A high volume striker, dos Anjos tore a path though the division, facing and defeating the likes of Donald Cerrone, Nate Diaz, Benson Henderson and Anthony Pettis, whom he defeated to win the UFC lightweight crown.
Tarec Saffiedine (16-6), also coming off two consecutive losses, is no stranger to Singapore fans, having walked away with a US$50,000 Fight of the Night bonus when he defeated Hyun Gyu Lim in January 2014.
Also announced for UFC Fight Night Singapore are two exciting UFC newcomers, both undefeated in their pro-MMA careers.
DEEP veteran Naoki Inoue will make his UFC debut against URCC flyweight champion Carls “Golden Boy” John De Tomas, who comes to the UFC with half of his professional wins coming by submission.
UFC Fight Night 111 will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, marking the promotion’s first event in Asia in over a year.
Among the confirmed bouts, former UFC heavyweight champion and no. 8 ranked Andrei Arloveski will face Polish prodigy Marcin Tybura. Also confirmed is an exciting flyweight scrap that will see Japan’s “Ulka” Sasaki (19-4-2) clash with UFC veteran Justin Scoggins (11-3).
Japanese MMA legend Takanori Gomi ( 35-12) will look to turn around three straight losses when he faces Jon Tuck. Tuck, who fights out of Hagatna Guam, is known to Asia MMA fans for winning his first performance of the night bonus in the Philippines when he submitted Korea’s Tae Hyun Bang.
