Blood and guts were the order of the day, as Eric Kelly and Rob Lisita mainlined the ONE FC 18 card that went down in Taipei.
With finish after first round finish, the thrilling featherweight main event fighters knew they had a tough act to follow, and they didn’t disappoint. Lisita came out with blistering bravado and forced Kelly to take defense early on. Into the second, the Australian smashed the Filipino’s nose to a pulp and a faucet of blood was opened up.
Lisita, tough as nails, lost momentum in two critical moments, once while sitting back for a heel hook, and another while slipping off back mount to let Kelly reverse him from behind. It was enough for Kelly to show the heroism he was known for when he captured the URCC title. Kelly choked out Lisita in the second round.
ONE FC CEO Victor Cui awarded the promotion’s first ever “ONE Warrior Bunus” of a whopping $50,000USD to Kelly for his bravery, spirit, performance, and sportsmanship. The once Featherweight Championship contender now also earns a shot at the belt again, this time facing defending title holder Koji Oishi in Dubia at ONE FC 19 on August 29, 2014.
