UFC 187 took place on May 23, 2015 in Las Vegas, USA. Kim Dong-Hyun returned to his strengths and the win column with a third round arm triangle submission of Josh Burkman.
UFC 8th ranked welterweight Kim Dong-Hyun took his 25th fight at UFC 187 against the newly re-signed Josh Burkman. While Kim was coming off the first loss of his career , Burkman was returning from a loss to Hector Lombard that was overturned to a No Contest when Lombard tested positive for banned steroids.
Kim owned the first and second rounds with his dominant clinch work, first body locking Burkman while standing, then trapping both arms as he turtled, throwing punches and elbows for nearly an entire round.
Burkman surged coming out of the third bell and threw a knee that rocked Kim, but he let him recover and that’s all Kim needed to shoot again and get the fight to the canvas. Once there, Kim positioned Burkman’s head and arm in a triangle, transitioned to mount, and got the tap.
