One of the most admired mixed martial artists in the Philippines, Filipino-American Brandon “The Truth” Vera will make his first-ever fight in the archipelago on December 5th, 2014 for his One FC debut against an unnamed opponent.
The news was announced by One FC during a media luncheon held Wednesday at SM Aura, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
Vera’s fans in the Philippines have been patiently waiting to see him fight in the country especially during his UFC days. But unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned in terms of major sponsors as Dana White frequently specified in the past.
“The Truth” was released by the UFC earlier this year after a 1-3-1 NC Octagon run since 2010. It was a let down for the Muay Thai specialist as he failed to fulfill his dream to be not only a heavyweight title holder, but a two-division champion in the world’s largest MMA promotion.
Hungrier than ever, Vera has promised to win his One FC debut on December for his Filipino fans who never failed to support him since day one.
Though his opponent is yet to be announced, there are few names in the current heavyweight roster that could possibly welcome Vera in the One FC cage, such as James McSweeney, Paul Cheng, Chi Lewis Parry, and Chris Lokteff.
Vera aims for a fresh start in his new promotion to dig up some respect he lost during his down times in the UFC. He looks to get back into his winning ways by fighting in front of his home town crowd on December 5th at One FC 23 – Warrior’s Way.
