Mark Striegl will make his promotional debut at ONE FC Philippines in Manila on April 14, 2015 against Casey Suire.

Also announced on the card, which features Welterweight Champion Ben Askren’s next title defense against Luis Santos, Filipino Eugene Toquero will face Indonesian Brianata Rosadhi.

Striegl is one of Asia’s most consummate journeymen. The Filipino-American started into MMA at the elite GODS Wayjutsu Keishukai dojo under one of Japan’s best lightweights of the day, Yuji Hoshino. While he never actually fought in Japan, he fought in promotions in China, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand and Guam, eventually settling into his heritage home of the Philippines where he established a team of his own and made a run for the PXC Featherweight title on the back up an undefeated 12-0 record.

Then a submission loss to Kim Jang-Yong – the first loss in his career – changed the course of history for Striegl. His contract with PXC ended, and he had to assess his next step. So far, it’s been a big one. After a year away from the sport, Striegl dropped to bantamweight and won his comeback fight at MIMMA Season 2 Finals against Kai Kara-France by choke, his 12th submission finish in 13 wins.

His next step was a huge training camp transition from a skeleton crew to land on the pro fight team of Evolve MMA, which meant also leaving his home of the Philippines for Singapore’s shores. Along with the new camp, Striegl’s fight career was put back into high gear with his signing to ONE FC and a quick debut back on the next Philippines card.

He’ll be facing a game Casey Suire who went 3-0 in Indonesian events before signing to ONE FC, where he’s choked out newcomers Raymond Tan and Stephen Langdown. For this camp, Suire is training with Fransino Tirta, Indonesia’s top MMA fighter who is undefeated in his own right, and who is also signed to ONE FC.

Suire’s star is on the rise, and his grappling is top-notch, but facing Striegl will be an uphill challenge for him. Suire has everything to gain by taking this match. The American is still early in his career and a win would cement his prospect status. And at this point in Striegl’s career, he will already be looking past Suire to a title challenge. Expect a very technical yet exciting bout from these two.

Also announced, super striker Eugene Toquero faces Brianata Rosadhi. Toquero went 4-0 in PXC with all KOs then faced fellow prospect Geje Eustaquio in a rousing 3-rounder that saw him on the unfortunate side of the scorecard. He bounced back with a well-fought decision victory over Malaysian prospect Gianni Subba. Rosadhi will be needing to rebound form his ONE FC debut loss to Raymond Tan that came saw the much rangier fighter get him in an early guillotine.
