ONE FC 16 takes place on May 30, 2014 in Singapore with Ben Askren anticipated first appearance against sambo medallist Bakhtiyar Abbasov. LEGEND FC champs Jadamaba and Ji Xian debut, home heroes feature heavily.

At a time when wrestling has become a staple in the MMA game, Olympian Ben Askren heads to Asia’s ONE FC to ply his trade. This weekend he makes his anticipated debut with the promotion against a leg lock supremist from the bottom position, Bakhtiyar Abbasov. The odds are being made on if it will be enough to counter Askren’s top position strength. While on paper the two look similar, Askren’s high profile eclipses even Abbasov’s sambo accomplishments. However, no one’s rolling over and playing dead in this main event, for certain, too much at stake.

Evolve’s highly-touted Eddie Ng will face Tatsujin Dojo’s Vincent Latoel – both fighters train with astounding coaches and fight teams. Ng has finished his last five opponents, whereas Latoel, coming off a a self-imposed layoff, has presented a mixed bag in his two comeback fights. He proved he can go the distance with a heavy striker in Eduard Folayang, but Ng’s submission savvy could be his kryptonite.

Two Legend FC superstars have transferred over since the Hong Kong-based promotions closing, and both make thier debuts at this event. Former Lightweight Champion Jadamba Narantungalag will face former ONE FC Featherweight Champion Honorio Banario, and Bantamweight Champ Ji Xian will face Than Vu in his third ONE FC showing.

More of Singapore’s Evolve MMA fighters are featured on the hometown card. Rising star Bruno Pucci will face fellow grappler Major Overall, and Radeem Rahman returns against Raymond Tan.

Other Singaporeans and Singapore-based fighters also appear on the card. Stephen Langdown will take on Indonesia-based Casey Suire, and Brad Robinson grants Malaysia’s Nik Harris a rematch.

Elsewhere on the card, Caros Fodor and Willy Ni return to their new ONE FC home to face each other, and big men Alain Ngalani and Chi Lewis Perry present a clash of the titans.

Check out the fight week events going on here before ONE FC 16 takes place on Friday night.
