Pacific X-treme Combat’s Featherweight Champ Jang-Yong “The Beast” Kim and Welterweight Champ Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam defend their titles on March 13, 2014 in Guam at PXC 47’s double header.

The Featherweight Championship

The Korean Top Team captain, Kim, meets Japan’s Yusuke Yachi for his second title defense, while Kadestam goes toe-to-toe against another KTT standout in Han-Seul Kim for his first-ever 170 pound title defense.

It took Kim Jang-Yong no time at all to submit Nate Thorell in the first round at PXC 37 before acquiring a ticket to fight Striegl for the title at PXC 39 in Manila. Kim faced Striegl in hostile territory as an underdog as he was facing the then undefeated Filipino prospect. The fight was very technical in the first two rounds but it was Kim’s superb grappling gave him the edge over Striegl. Kim caught Striegl in a tight leg scissors choke in the third round to claim the PXC 145 pound title.

On February 28, 2014, “The Beast” took on Hawaii’s Toby “2 Quick” Misech for his fist title defense. Kim, once again, performed exceptionally against Misech as he scored another submission win in the second round and kept the title.

Kim is going to be tested anew as he will be facing one of the top featherweights in Japan in Yusuke Yachi, who is riding a three-fight winning streak. Yachi has proved he can overcome holes in his game and is a sincere threat to the title.

The Welterweight Championship

In the other title scrap, Sweden’s Kadestam finally makes his first title defense as the PXC welterweight king against Han-Seul Kim.

Kadestam is a Muay Thai wrecking machine and his past fights show how intimidating this guy’s striking is. He throws leg kicks at full speed and whoever gets hit by it will surely crumble whether they like it or not. Kadestam’s all around game has tremendously improved over the years. He trains at Legacy Gym in Boracay alongside Ole Laursen. He will be facing a tough young South Korean young gun in Han-Seul Kim.

Tagged as “Baby Lim” by his team mates because of his similar fighting style with UFC welterweight fighter Lim Hyun Gyu, Kim is preparing well for the biggest fight of his career against Kadestam. Kim is a southpaw who likes to use his jab and scrappy boxing combos. When it comes to fighting on the ground, Kim is as comfortable as fighting on his feet. He aims to display his punching power as he tries to dethrone Kadestam at PXC 47.

Main card fights

The said event will also feature Darren “Bone Crusher” Uyenoyama as he welcomes the very explosive and energetic Japanese flyweight in Kentaro Watanabe. Uyenoyama is a UFC and DREAM veteran who has wins over KID Yamamoto and Rambaa Somdet. Watanabe is a Shooto lifer who defeated Pancrase Champion Kiyotaka Shimizu and then had a shot against Geje Eustaquio in ONE FC that didn’t go his way. This should be a delightful scrap.

Cortney Casey continues her assault on the Women’s division as she welcomes Helen Harper to the Terror Dome. Harper was unable to make weight, but Casey agreed to take the bout and it will go ahead at an agreed-upon catchweight. Women’s scraps in PXC are always thrillers, and this one should be no different.
