FINALS
SUPERFIGHTS
Braulio Estima – Brazil
Andre Galvao – Brazil
From Grappling Weekly:
Andre gets the takedown on Braulio…….looking to pass….gets some distance for passing….possibly looking for legdrags and his long step passing sequence. Andre loooking to pass. ….Braulio not as agressive as he was against Jacare thats for sure. Braulio spinning for kneebar or possibly 50.50 entry……andre flees and escapes. Andre having tough time passing Braulios long legged guard. Braulio being very cautious with attacks…andre leaps by for a pass but braulio defends now possibly going for kneebah…its a kneebah……Andre goes for a heel hook on braulio…….sits back up to readjust……braulio defends….andre pressuring the pass…braulio recomposing very slick…..andre trying to hop over… Andre attacking legs of Braulio over and over….braulio doesnt want to commit and this is NOT The braulio the jacare last ADCC! Braulio comes on top…..not sure if he got points for that….Andre tries to sweep…braulio defends braulio now fleeing andes attacks! Braulios up 2-0. braulio was playing possum and doing a rope a dope on galvao….now hes attacking more with armlocks using his long legs switching now to 50/50 tying to cook galvao…wow…braulios super smart…andres looking little frustrated now…braulio now attacking leg of andre……andre back on top of braulio in his guard trying to pass…..andre trying to step through to pass but braulio recomposing….defending the pass well….ande almost passed now and going to the back of braulio…gets the hooks…one hook in…braulio peels him off….andre has his back….but csnt get both hooks in…braulio….and ANDRE GETS THE WIN VIA RNC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From DefGrappler:
Galvao gets a takedown as Braulio cooperates. Tries leg weave/leg drag over butterfly and open half, but no go. Braulio conserving energy. Braulio eventually spins invert for a leg and Andre stuffs, eventually spins out to defend. Re-engages in the open guard/butterfly. Andre eventually settles into Braulio’s half guard and looks to prevent an underhook of legs and hop over to the other side. Braulio inverts and they tangle legs. Andre tries for a heel hook, Braulio doesn’t really defend as it’s not there and they break apart. Galvao tries to hop past to the other side this time, but Braulio uses long legs to retain guard and follow Galvao along. This is the best super-fight in recent memory. I can’t even do justice to it on Twitter. Not high paced, but so, so high level. I can’t explain the stuff Andre and Braulio are doing now. Andre getting more position advances possible, but Braulio more possible subs. Andre bulldogs his way into a possible side control situation, turns it into a back take with one hook, seatbelt, Braulio rolls, but RNC.
From Bloody Elbow:
Braulio right foot forwards, Andre left foot forwards. Both slapping at heads, wrestling style and locking up in similar fashion. Andre feinting at the legs and clinching the head, coming forwards a bit more. Andre pulls a leg towards him and Braulio cooperates. Braulio now playing butterfly and Andre looking to leg weave his way past after switching sides briefly. No go.
Braulio now playing a very open half guard, almost inviting Andre in for some invert work. Andre shifting to leg drag at times, but not feeling it. Andre staying active and switching sides constantly. Braulio seems to be moving much slower, inverts to go for a leg, Andre stands up, stuffs the legs and starts to back out. Has to spin out of the leglock as Braulio won’t go away.
After some more feinting and slow movement, Andre settles into the half guard of Braulio to Braulio’s right and starts figuring out if he can work the pressures right to pass.An explosive movement sees Andre bypass the halfguard after backing out slightly and try to seize north/south. Braulio inverts in response and Andre crunches down. They’ve tangled up their legs and Andre drops for a heel hook. It could be there, but Braulio isn’t concerned. He’s staying patient for the half guard.
Andre tries once more to explosively hop past, but this time to the other side and Braulio gets his legs in to keep the open guard. Braulio really seems to want triceps control on Andre when he’s up in butterfly. Andre tries to get an anklelock, but the positioning isn’t quite right.
