Alberto Mina finally makes his debut with the UFC at Fight Night 48 in Macau against Shinsho Anzai. A few hurtles overcome, the black belt judoka and jiujitsu professor is ready to rumble.
A Hong Kong based jiujitsu and judo professor, Mina was signed last year and expected to debut on the previous UFC card in Maca at the TUF Finale. However, his opponent Zak Cummings failed to make weight in a big way. Mina was emotionally hit hard, as he’d just come out of an extended Bellator contract in which he’d never seen action.
Mina was booked to face another opponent who pulled out due to injury, and ended up with a late notice match up against recent Pancrase Champ Shinsho Anzai, who is making his UFC debut as well, and dropping to welterweight for the first time.
At the opening presser media scrum, MMA-in-ASIA spoke with Mina about his condition, the hiccups on the way to his UFC debut, and his overall thrill at the opportunity.
