Bellator 119 takes place in Canada on May 9, 2014 and features two bouts that Asian MMA fans will respect. Vaughn Anderson faces Marius Zaromskis and Marlon Sandro faces Chris Horodecki.
Anderson is based at Xi’An Sports University in China where he trains and coaches a huge contingent of MMA fighters. He is known as being one of the biggest contributors to the development of Chinese MMA, as he’s fought, trained, and taught there for most of his career. Facing Zaromskis will be an exciting challenge for him.
Known as the head kick legend of Japan, Zaromskis was a dominant player in DREAM, becoming the Welterweight Champion and defeating legends like Sakuraba, Sakurai and Eiji Ishikawa. He stumbled in Strikeforce but found footing in Bellator. Both men have dropped recent fights in their very well-traveled careers. This should be a striking war since both men like to engage, unless Anderson looks for bread and butter on the ground.
Marlon Sandro is back to Bellator after making an appearance at Pancrase’s 20th Anniversary event at the end of 2013. While lacking his usual violent nature in recent bouts, the Nova Uniao legend still has capability of delivering a KO at any moment. Japan MMA fans will remember his almost consecutive run of first round knockouts that included Nick Denis, Yuji Hoshino, and Masanori Kanehara. It will be experience versus age when he meets fellow KO proponent Horodecki this Friday (Saturday morning Asia time).
