IMPI FC 2 took place on July 31, 2015 in Hong Kong. Five professional MMA bouts sanctioned by the HKCMMA Association took place in a cage in front of a very appreciative crowd.

Founder Vuyisile Colossa touted the promotion as “by fighters, for fighters, so he set up the main event as a match between black belt karateka Sean Stolarczyk and Wing Chun kung fu sifu Marc Guyon. However, both men proved their compliment of MMA skills over the course of a full three rounds. After a lot of clinching and cage grinding, grappling took the limelight from both, with Stolarczyk’s big double leg takedowns and Guyon’s excellent guard work. Stolarczyk had a plan to take the fight to the ground and finish with some GnP. Guyon took the punishment when short shots and elbows were handed to him, and incessantly worked his butterfly guard to eliminate Stolarczyk from gaining a better position. In the end, the judges gave it unanimously across the board to Stolarczyk.

Kimberly Carder and Tricia Yap made Hong Kong history as the first women’s professional MMA match. They put on three rounds of entertainment for a highly divided and vocal crowd. From the clinch right away, Carder looked to establish her preferred distance and put Yap on the defensive. Yap wasn’t put off and came back to trade punches. Both jiujitsu players were expected to perform a grappling-tinted match, but when each saw the other’s takedown defense, it played out as a striker’s game. Carder’s unusual and heavy rights could be heard when they connected, and Yap’s jabs were impressive as well. At the final bell, it was Carder’s cage control and amount of strikes that earned her the Unanimous Decision.

Jeet Kune Do proponent Bernard Fung faced consummate kickboxer Eamon Cramb in a battle of two long and rangy strikers. Fung’s plan was to shoot and do the work on the ground, where Eamon might be out of his depth, but the Scotsman muscled him around for his efforts. A frustrated Fung skirted out of the heavy striking until the second round. Then he came out with a nice sidekick, but Eamon repaid him with one of his own then quickly got inside with an elbow and punches that sent Fung duck and covering to the canvas. Eamon celebrated the TKO victory by hoisting both round girls into the air.

Hong Kong naturalized Pakistani Nosh Khanzada pulled out a quick knock out over Mongolian wrestling ace Xiong Dixin. Khanzada assaulted from the bell and in just 14 seconds Xiong was flat on his back across the cage. It was clearly an emotional win for Khanzada, who’s had a tough run in his early career against more experienced opponents.

Roberto Medalla and Henry Tong opened up the MMA part of the card with an amazing performance of skills, aggression, and heart. In the opening round, it was Tong who impressed with takedowns, two near submissions from an arm bar and a neck crank, and a knock down. But it wasn’t a one-sided affair as Medalla slammed his way out of the arm bar, and punched his way out of a guillotine.

In the second round, Medalla imposed his game with a big double to some ground and pound action, but Tong hung on from the bottom, looked for transitions and defended well. The third round flew back and forth between the two. Tong came out with some blistering combinations and Medalla was happy to engage. But Medalla got extremely crafty and faked for a high flying double, and ended out the round with a strong position and pounding which tipped the judges in his favor for the win.
