Kunlun Fight 8: Tang Jin vs Marina Moroz

Kunlun Fight 8 takes place on August 24, 2014 in Xining, China. The Muay Thai promotion will feature Tang Jin versus Marina Moroz as the solo MMA bout.

Kunlun Fight started in January of 2014 and has hosted monthly events around China, including the opening card in Thailand and another in the Philippines. The promotion has touted Tang as one of their highest-drawing stars as she is very well regarded throughout China. Other known fighters such as former Legend FC Champion Yao HongGang, Jiang LongYun, Wu HaoTian, and Kai Kara-France have made appearances.

Kunlun also put on a controversial match that featured UFC’s TUF China competitor Yang JianPing who had missed the finals in Macau due to an injury, but was supposedly still under contract.  At the UFC presser for the upcoming Macau event, Yang told MMA-in-Asia that the bout was “a tune up exhibition”.

This match might have escaped our notice if it weren’t for top women’s MMA site MMA Rising picking up on the importance of the bout here. Tang is a known commodity, but according to Robert Sargent, Moroz is a genuine threat:

Moroz (2-0-0) may enter the fight as an underdog, but she is unquestionably Tang’s toughest test since the November bout with Kish. Moroz kicked off her pro MMA career for the popular Oplot Challenge promotion in the Ukraine on November 23rd and picked up a second-round submission win over Yana Kuzioma. She was then brought in to face Kunlun Fight’s new breakout star, Huang, at Kunlun Fight 5. In a result that shocked the crowd in attendance, Moroz forced Huang to submit to an armbar midway through the first round. She now looks to earn an even bigger victory in two weeks.

Incidentally, another Oplot Challenge product, Alyona Rasohyna, was just announced here as the next opponent for Korean superstar Ham Seo-Hee at ROAD FC 18.
