Li JingLiang will make his second UFC appearance on October 4, 2014 against Nordine Taleb in Nova Scotia, Canada.
A China Top Team product, Li has improved himself in every outing, and when he reached the UFC, he did not disappoint. Against David Michaud at UFC 173, “Leech” proved his moniker by sticking to his opponent whether it by striking or grappling. He handled the punches that came his way, worked out of submission attempts, and kept up a steady, active, fierce barrage of attacks. Li won the fight by split decision.

Taleb has the exact same record on paper as Li: he’s 9-2 with his first UFC bid being successful as well. He will be the hometown favorite as he trains in Montreal at Tristar Gym under Firas Zahabi along with such high profile fighters as Georges St Pierre, Jon Jones and Kenny Florian. Taleb was slated for a UFC bid twice before, in back-to-back TUF seasons, but he was knocked out in the first fight, and in then in the prelim fight.
Li and Taleb aren’t the only welterweights on the card: UFC FN 54 is headlined by Rory MacDonald versus former Strikeforce Champ Tarec Saffiedine.
