On the official UFC Asia Facebook page today it was announced that Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey will be appearing at the press conference ahead of UFC Fight Night Macau.

Breaking news! The first ever UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will be here in Hong Kong to attend our Ultimate Media Day next Wednesday Aug 20 at the Four Seasons Hotel, along with guest fighters Luke Rockhold & Angela Magada. This is shaping up to be one hell of a main event preview!

Rousey has become one of the most recognizable MMA fighters in the USA for her extreme dominance in her division leading up to becoming the 3-time defending Champion. She segued into the UFC following her Strikeforce career which also saw her gain and defend the Championship title there.

Prior to her MMA career, Rousey was a consummate judoka from 2001 to 2008, culminating her incredible career by achieving a bronze medal in the 2008 Summer Olympics. This background led her to an impressive number of wins by submission – now widely known as her trademark arm bar. Rousey stepped things up a notch with her striking and has won the last two of her fights by TKO and KO.

UFC President Dana White originally announced in our one-on-one interview here that he intended to bring Rousey along to the Macau event, with other fighters as well.

MMA-in-ASIA will have updates on all UFC events leading up to UFC Fight Night Macau.
