Chinese media is reporting that UFC has (re)signed undefeated bantamweight Jumabieke Tuerxun and Legend FC Welterweight Champ Li Jingliang.
While “Bieke” a Xinjiang native, was previously announced as contracted to the UFC, it was revealed that his contract with Legend FC had not expired. Upon the promotion’s closing of doors, fighters were released and he became a free agent. Bieke once spawned the Legend FC title to fight in RUFF for a chance at their 1 million RMB national championship, then declined to fight for it in the hopes of a UFC contract. Bieke is now 14-0 with some spectacular highlight-reel finishes both standing and on the ground to his credit.
Sources to the Chinese news reporter say that Bieke’s UFC debut is likely to be held in Macau in March for the TUF Finale event.
Li Jingliang was announced as signing with UFC in the Chinese media, although his debut date has not been decided. Li told the media he expects it will be some time around May. Li fought his way up the ranks of Legend FC to get two shots at the Welterweight Championship, and in the process showed great development and versatility as a fighter. He is one of the most highly-decorated BJJ competitors in the relatively nascent China scene. His grappling skills have earned him the name “Leech” in the MMA ring.
While both fighters have spoken in blogs and to media about their signing, the UFC has not issued an official statement.
