UFC FUEL TV: MACAU, CHINA CARD ANNOUNCEMENTS

Not quite a watershed yet beyond a trickle, news of the impending UFC card in Macau, China is beginning to make its way to the front pages. As first announced by MMA-in_ASIA in the English media press on July 28th, Team MAD’s Kang KyungHo of Korea was signed fresh off his championship-winning bout at ROAD FC and will be fighting Alex Caceres. Alex fought in regional promotions in the US before being cast in The Ultimate Fighter: GSP vs Koscheck. His first stint in the UFC after the TV show wasn’t successful so he dropped to bantamweight and showed improvement in striking. He’s known as “Bruce Leroy” – an ode to the The Last Dragon, and with his afro set to go, hopefully he’ll again don the Bruce Lee yellow jumpsuit. Alex’s infectuous grin and Kang’s good looks make for a great marqis, and a fight that should be hopping.

Also announced on MMA-in-ASIA, Korean Top Team’s Lim “The Ace” HyunGyu will enter the octagon fresh off stealing his own title at Pacific Xtreme Championship. Coach Ha Dongjin confirmed that the 188cm light heavyweight phenom will meet the undefeated Marcelo Guimares. Guimaraes joined fellow UFC-inductee Caceres in the win + bonus payout circle of UFC Fuel TV 4. Guimaraes has demonstrated his proficiency with putting his opponents against the cage; it will be exciting to see if Lim’s stunning 200cm reach can negate that.

Rounding out a trio of Koreans announced so far is Kim “Stun Gun” DongHyun of Team MAD taking on Paulo Thiago. Both fighters have come off recent losses – Kim by suffering an uncontrollable muscle spasm and Thiago by getting KOed in under a minute by “The Great” Siyar Bahadurzada – so they will be hungry for revenge and neither wants a 2-streak loss on their record.

Announced by The Score, DEEP Middleweight Champion Riki Fukuda, currently 1-2 in the UFC with some bad luck surrounding his first loss and an injury that kept him out of the game a while, will be taking on Tom DeBlass, who is dropping to middleweight after his first loss at the hands of Cyrille Diabate.

Asia’s favorite Wanderlei Silva got his wish and will be facing Patrick Cote. Cote’s last fight was a unanimous loss to Cung Le, who will also be on this card, fighting against Rich Franklin.

MMA Japan announced that it got confirmation from Mac Danzig’s twitter that he’ll be facing “The Fireball Kid”, Takanori Gomi.

More updates will be posted as they are revealed.
