UFC officially announces foray into Singapore, TUF details


The UFC announced during a press conference in Bejing, China that it is set for hosting a series of live events at Sands Group’s Venetian in Macau, China and Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, beginning in early 2014. Further details about TUF China were also announced.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship – iconically known as the UFC – has broken its intentions to the public with a press conference today, July 11th, in Beijing, China. Most recently, the UFC announced the dates for a series of tryouts for TUF China which would be open to Chinese-descent fighters able to speak Mandarin and able to live in Macau, China, where the reality show and competition will take place. TUF China will consist of 12 episodes and a potential 6-figure contract is up for grabs to the winner. The series will be done in collaboration with China’s Liaoning Television, and broadcast in November to 830 million Chinese viewers. The TUF Finale is slated for March of 2014 at the Venetian in Macau, China.

In regards to announcements on Singapore events, Marina Bay Sands CEO George Tanasijevich stated that the UFC would be hosting an event at the MBS in Singapore within the next several years.

The age of recruitment is 18-34, MMA experience, in the weight categories of 66 kg, 70 kg and 77 kg – Chinese ethnicity. Successful registrants will participate in tryouts at Cosmopolitan Hotel in Beijing on July 21, and July 25 respectively in Singapore at the Marina Bay sands, and August 3 at the Venetian in Macau.


Out of the three weight classes, two finalists – not one – will have the opportunity to win 6-figure contracts with the UFC, a source in the company clarifies.
