At today’s DEEP 67 Impact, the promotion announced that Michihiro Omigawa, Champ Kazunori Yokota, and Champ Tatsumitsu Wada would be on the next event on August 23, 2014. Following the event, Wada announced that Yuki Motoya would be getting a rematch with him for the belt.
Yokota said he would welcome the fight with Omigawa, should that be the match up that DEEP choose to make, and it would be a rematch from way way back in the day – 2006 to be exact. The gregarious Omigawa seemed happy to rise to the occasion. He hasn’t won since 2011, but he’s a definite draw and always exciting to watch. In retrospect, DEEP Featherweight Champ Yokota hasn’t lost since 2010. In their first match, Yokota won the majority decision.
Wada claimed the Flyweight belt from Motoya, who was the first holder of it. It was a rousing war that ended in a split decision. While Wada has only fought once, defending it against Harou Ochi – who claimed a terrific victory over Imanari after the announcement – Wada has fought thrice and defeated big names: Kiyotaka Shimizu the King of Pancrase, Imanari, and today he blazed through Yoshiro Maeda.
