Today the news broke that Garry Cook, the UFC‘s head operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, had been promoted to Chief Global Officer. As such, former Managing Director of UFC Asia Mark Fischer has been released.

MMA Fighting broke the news and confirmed it with CEO Dana White directly. The former CEO of Manchester City will move to Las Vegas to carry out his duties.

Fischer’s tenure included the China market for four years, during which time two shows in Macau, plus the upcoming event on August 23rd, and the first series of TUF China were negotiated and held. The main office started in Beijing, then moved operations to Singapore, where the first UFC event was held at the beginning of 2014.

Dana White has been vocal about an event in the Philippines in the beginning of 2014, and a Korea event is also to be expected, along with the promotion’s Japan expansion which includes a TUF-style tournament co-promoted by Shooto Commission-run Vale Tudo Japan across 2 weight divisions.
