In the middle of last year, Japanese MMA living legend Hideo Tokoro was announced as picked up by Bellator.
Now he will finally make his promotional debut at Bellator 135 on March 27, 2015. He will meet LC Davis in Oklahoma, US.
Tokoro’s most recent appearances were in the new Japanese promotions of GrandSlam and VTJ. He started his career as a ZST mainstay and transitioned to the big leagues of K-1 Hero’s and DREAM. Tokoro has fought in bouts ranging from flyweight to lightweight in a whopping 61 professional matches. The submission ace counts 18 submissions of his 32 wins, with defeats over Brad Pickett, Royler Gracie, Masakazu Imanari, Yoshiro Maeda, Rumina Sato, and Darren Uyenoyama.
The 34-year old Davis boasts a record of 22-6 with an even number of knock outs, submissions, and decisions to his credit. Those wins have taken part in Titan FC, IFL, and WEC. Davis also made an appearance in Sengoku where he lost in the first round of the tournament to Michihiro Omigawa. He’s riding a 2 win streak, with both of those in his Bellator first year.
The 37-year old Tokoro is coming off back to back losses himself, and needs a win in order to prove himself still relevant in the international level of competition. Fans will want to see the go-for-broke style, but much more is at stake at this point in his career.
The main event for Bellator 135 will be Bantamweight Champion Joe Warren’s title defense against Marcos Galvao.
