IGF has announced that Shinya Aoki will face Yuki Yamamoto on New Years eve for Bom Bay Ye 2014.
Aoki, former DREAM Lightweight Champion and current ONE FC Lightweight Champion, made an indication that he would be on the IGF card if his ONE FC contract would allow, and it has now been decided that he will be able to participate on the traditional New Years Eve card.
The submission wizard who has been honing his striking and overall MMA game at Evolve MMA in Singapore will meet Yuki Yamamoto. Yamamoto is a Paraestra Chiba representative who made his MMA debut in ZST at 19 in 2007. He went on through RINGS The Outsiders, Grabaka’s event, and Grachan, where he was set to have a Lightwieght title match before his opponent Jonathan Gary pulled out.
Yamamoto has seen action in IGF twice, first handing Russian sambo prodigy Ramazan Esenbaev his first Draw, but then coming up short against him in his last outing.
Yamamoto will be the heavy underdog against Aoki in their match. While his grappling is his base, most of Yamamoto’s wins are by KO. Likely he’ll try that approach. In any case, Tobikan Judan fans will see the legend in action once again on New Years Eve.
