IGF’s Bom Ba Ye 2014 takes place at the Ryogoku Kokugikan on December 31, 2014. Ringing in the new year will be two more fights between massive men.
The bad boy of sumo, Shinichi Suzukawa, has found new life in the Inoki Genome Federation since being released for possession of pot. Well, sort of. Suzukawa got submitted by Cro Cop, KOed by Bob Armstrong, then finally found repentance with the career-ending finish of Minowaman. However, His next opponent could send him back to the red side of his record.
The bad boy of MMA, Chris Barnett, who racked up a 7-1 before he decided not to show up at any more weigh ins, will face Suzukawa on New Years Eve. Barnett has overcome his negative image and bagged 4 KOs in a row, the last being a 30 send title defense of his Super Heavyweight belt at Island Fights. He’ll be looking to ring in the new year on Suzukawa’s head.
To warm up for the match, Barnett’s going up against Darrill Schoonover at heavyweight on Island Fights 31 next weekend.
Yusuke “Crusher” Kawaguchi beat “That Guy” and a couple of others in promotions outside of IGF, but inside he’s 0 for 2. Gone are the days when he chopped down Seigo Mizuguchi with leg kicks and was the DEEP Megaton King, even decisioning the world’s strongest man, Mariusz Pudzianowski. But the 34-year log black belt judoka still has gas left in the engine, and he never takes his foot off the pedal.
Justin Willis is the next mountain in front of the Crusher. Willis is being dubbed as “Wanderlei Silva’s prodigy”
although with a record of 1-1 pro and 1-1 ammy, it’s hard to see the name branded on him yet. However, the Wand is pulling for him on New Years Eve, so even if we don’t see the Axe Murderer with gloves on, he should be somewhere nearby.
