The Karateka is back in the Octagon. Kikuno Katsunori will be riding a 6-fight win streak as he fights in the UFC for the second time on May 24, 2014 at UFC 173 against Tony Ferguson. Katsunori made his debut at the beginning of the year in the UFC’s expansion into Southeast Asia by way of Singapore. While he wasn’t able to showcase his karate, his style was evident, and he solidly earned a decision win over over former KOTC champ Quinn Mulhern.
Ferguson is the Ultimate Fighter 13 winner, and has made a successful run in the UFC by winning four out of five of his appearances. This fight will be on the main card, and joins three other high profile Asian fighters including Takeya Mizugaki, Kang Kyung-Ho, and debutant “Korean Superboy” Choi Doo-Ho.
