UFC Japan adds a new bout onto the September 20, 2014 event as Maximo Blanco takes on Daniel Hooker.

Stuff in New Zealand announced the bout and Sherdog confirmed it.

Blanco is no stranger to JMMA having started his career right out of high school wrestling in Japan and into Pancrase in 2008. The Sengoku survivor battled most of the stalwarts on the scene until being called into the big leagues of Strikeforce, and subsequently the UFC, where he resides with a record of 2-3.

Hooker has not ventured as far from his home territory during his young MMA career, but he did post two appearances in Legend FC in Hong Kong and Macau. His dominant UFC debut over Ian Entwistle in which he finished with brutal elbows and a social media campaign hashtagged “get Hangman to Japan” did the trick to land him a spot on the card, which features fellow New Zealander Mark Hunt headlining against Roy Nelson.

Hooker will be broadly tested against Blanco, a man whose upbringing on the JMMA scene bred all sorts of craziness into his game plan.
