Mizuki Inoue and Alexa Grasso both made weight as the co-main event of Invicta FC 11 on Februay 27, 2015 in Los Angeles, California, USA.
Inoue came in at 115.25 and Grasso at 115 even. Invicta FC 11 prelims will start at 10pm ET and will stream live and free on Invicta’s website here and the main card on UFC Fight Pass afterwards.
Mizuki, at just 20 years of age, is ranked in or near the world’s rep ten women’s strawweights. She is currently 8-3, riding one loss against Karolina Kowalkiewicz in Invicta 9, and that performance will indeed have taught her where she needs to tweak her game – and there isn’t much.
In a surprising turn of events, Kowalkiewicz used an effected jab to neutralize touted striker Mizuki, who intelligently flipped her to the ground and showed her skills there. An amazing final round saw both women tee off on each other. Arguably, Kowalkiewicz landed slightly more during the exchanges, while Mizuki still looked fresh at the end of the match. The judges awarded the split decision to Kowalkiewicz.
Previously, Mizuki faced and defeated Alex Chambers, Bec Rawlings, Emi Fujino, and Emi Tomimatsu on her way to being crowned the DEEP Jewels Lightweight Champion.
Alexa Grasso (6-0) of Mexico is also a young starlet. At just 21 years of age, Alexa sits just out of the 20th position in world rankings. This will be her third Invicta match as well, having defeated Ashley Cummins and Alida Gray in her previous appearances. Alexa’s a talented striker, so this match should be fast-paced and exciting to watch.
