Pancrase and World Series of Fighting held a press conference January 21, 2014 to announce the details of their affiliation for 2014 events. While a venue hasn’t been confirmed, the partnership is looking to hold their first event in August or September. Tadashi Amemiya of SRC Entertainment stated that they will be co-operating WSOF Japan and managing events, and Pancrase CEO Masakazu Sakai stated that he hoped to release and use the Sengoku archives for fans in Japan.
Yushin Okami was present and commented upon his debut in the upcoming March 29, 2014 Las Vegas WSOF event. Emi Fujino was confirmed as signed to compete in WSOF Japan events with a yet to be announced date, counter to statements that she was signed to DEEP. Other Pancrase fighters will be joining the ranks of WSOF events as a part of the arrangement. WSOF currently holds on their roster: Jon Fitch, Andrei Arlovski, Jorge Santiago, Jacob Volkmann, Paulo Filho, Miguel Torres, Anthony Johnson, Rousimar Palhares, and 2Jessica Aguilar.
Sakai also later stated that Pancrase’s broadcast with Canadian broadcaster (unconfirmed but assumed to be The Fight Network) will continue, and news of other international broadcasting would be revealed later.
Sakai also stated that a Pancrase “ace” would be on the next VTJ card in February.
