Tatsuya Kawajiri tweeted today that his eye surgery went as planned and that he is leaving the hospital to focus on treatment.

Kawajiri himself is uncertain of his return to MMA, however he wishes to do so, and so do his fans. His UFC debut in 2014 was a successful first round finish, but a meeting with icon Clay Guida was a wake up call to the level of competition in the UFC. Undaunted, Kawajiri has remained positive and was relishing a spot on the Japan card before his eye problem stymied his run.

But before talking return to action, recovery is the most important thing. After three previous eye injuries, Kawajiri and his doctors will need to make careful assessment of the situation to insure his quality of life before anything else.
