At Titan FC 31, a disparaging turn of events has taken place, as Mike Ricci failed to make weight in his Lightweight title bout with Yoshiyuki Yoshida. The bout will now be a non-title catchweight match.
Titan FC 31 will take place on October 31, 2014 and be broadcast on US channel CBS.
Traveling into the opposite timezone for many Asian fighters is a fact of life, as are the jet lag, diet challenges, and cultural shocks that come with it. Yoshiyuki Yoshida has just encountered a further bump in the road as his opponent failed to make weight for their title affair.
Mike Ricci came in at 71.22 while Yoshida weighed in at 70.4. Ricci was unable to drop the weight, and the match was agreed to take place at catchweight, and no longer for the title.
Ricci’s chance at a title now deflated through no fault but his own follows a string of top matches that have seen worse luck than most. Yoshida, now deprived of the title shot, can only hope to smack another win on his streak and aim for the next one.

Fellow Japanese traveler Ken Hasegawa, the DEEP Megaton Champion, came in for his light heavyweight scrap at 93.17 and his opponent, Matt Thompson, also made weight at 92.63.
