TRIBE TOKYO FIGHT Challenge 2 will be held on September 13, 2014 in Nerima City, Tokyo. King of Pancrase Kiyotaka Shimizu will be the main event.
Due to the event being in Nerima, the theme will be two stalwarts of the area facing off: Tribe Tokyo MMA versus Paraestra Tokyo.
Shimizu is the 6-time defending Flyweight/Super Flyweight Champion of Pancrase. His last defense was a soccer kick KO over Atsushi Yamamoto in what had been a delayed title match because of an injury to Yamamoto. In the mean time, Shimizu went to Shooto and DEEP for a few challenge match, and had a rocky 2013 because of it. His dominance over Yamamoto put him back in the spotlight.
Two top coaches square off as Yuki Nakai brings Paraestra Tokyo to face Ryo Chonan’s Tribe Tokyo MMA. There will be a total of 10 matches held in the Nerima Coconeri Hall, which holds an intimate crowd of 500. There will be a pay per view internet stream.
In a previous interview with Tribe Tokyo MMA and TTF founder Chonan, he gave the reason behind starting a new MMA promotion in what some might call a saturated market,
I’m going to make more of them for young guys to fight. I want to make strong fighters. I want to create a place to give them motivation… I want to make something separate from all of them that doesn’t have this… Even if all the tickets sell out, there will not be much money. I believe what I am doing is for the future.
