UFC Fight Night in Japan will take place on September 27, 2015 in Tokyo as the finals for the competition in the reality show “Road to UFC: Japan”.
Headlining the event will be the coaches for the teams of the show, Josh Barnett and Roy Nelson. Japan loves its heavyweights, and expect Pancrase Champ Barnett to be the “home favorite”, but Big Country has his big share of love as well.
A new addition to the UFC roster takes his debut spot on the Japan card. Yusuke Kasuya was announced as the latest Japanese fighter signed to compete just one day after his new baby was born. Quite a fortuitous week for him! Kasuya came to attention when he went undefeated to win the Shooto Rookie Tournament over current hot prospect “Tyson” Osawa. He then went into international competition in Legend FC and lost his first and only fight to a much more experienced Rob Hill. Kasuya bounced back with two more wins, then a Draw to top contender Yoshiro Koyama, and a drubbing of Frank Camacho in PXC.
Kasuya may not be a name on the lips of everyone right now, but he’s pulled off some pretty slick submissions through his career and at just 25 years old, he’s got an open road in front of him. At UFC Fight Night Japan, Kasuya will face Nick Hein, a judoka who’s currently 2-1 with the UFC.
Shinsho “Animal” Anzai is finally back in the Octagon to prove that he is indeed meant to be there after a disappointing loss to fierce ground and pound by Alberto Mina in Macau last year. Anzai’s performance was exciting but Mina was the better man in that fight. Animal will face a fellow slugger in Roger Zapata, a TUF 19 veteran who makes his Octagon debut. With KOs to the credit of both men, this should be a banger.
