UFC has made a very important step in promotion Mixed Martial Arts to the Japanese public. It has secured a television deal with TV Tokyo to broadcast UFC Japan, also known as UFC FN 52.
TV Tokyo announced the program on its TV Tokyo is a major terrestrial broadcaster in Japan, directly serving the 20 million people of Tokyo. This agreement will place MMA in the mainstream viewership live, something which hasn’t happened since the pre-UFC takeover PRIDE days.
Full details of the deal were not expressed. However, there will be a first broadcast into ruction of the UFC on July 7th at 1:00am JST.
Vale Tudo Japan made the notice via it’s Facebook page. VTJ has been selected to co-promote with the UFC on two tournaments in which the winner will be granted a UFC contract. The co-promotion will be broadcast across an 8-month span and will include approximately 30 episodes, documenting the training and competition.
