Yoshiyuki Yoshida will make his promotional debut with Titan FC in the USA against Mike Ricci for the Lightweight Championship.

MMAjunkie first confirmed the bout from Titan CEO Jeff Aronson. The title event is expected to take place in late October or early November in Tampa, Florida.

Yoshida was one of the original Japanese fighters to become at home in the cage. The fourth dan judoka won the Cage Force Welterweight tournament in 2007 and was subsequently signed by the UFC. Yoshida’s first accomplishment – relevant today for it’s satisfactory significance – was to choke out “War Machine” with an anaconda. He went 2-3 with the promotion. Afterwards, Yoshida became a journeyman, running up 6 straight wins including Phil Baroni and Won-Sik Park before being signed back to a US-based promotion, Titan FC.

Ricci is also a UFC vet, having run through TUF 16 to the finals in which he lost to Colton Smith by unanimous decision. He then bounced off a win and a loss in the UFC and was released, quickly signing with Titan FC. He’s made it a clean 2-0 and gets the shot at the title.

Titan FC is broadcast on CBS Sports Network across the US.
