Tyrone “Anaconda” Henderson will be looking to make a name for himself in his main card debut at ROAD FC 21 when he faces off against taekwondo specialist Hong Young-Gi on February 1, 2015.

Henderson is a rarity; he is a foreigner starting his professional MMA career in the land of the morning calm. But that does not faze this featherweight newcomer. The articulate military man has already caught the attention of Korean MMA fans through his grappling performances in ROAD FC, although he says he doesn’t like that label,

“People don’t understand, when you’re in the cage with me, and you get hit by me, you’re going to want to go to the ground.”

In this exclusive interview, Henderson explains how he ended up in Korea and particularly at SSABI MMA. It’s an unusual journey and one he never expected to embark upon, but turning pro was his goal and he’s made it happen.

Henderson – in a tone reminiscent of some big talkers on the international MMA scene – says he plans on “destroying the division” and “becoming a household name”, and if his confidence and previous showings are anything to judge him by, it will likely come true.

Henderson also gives his thoughts on the comments made by his Korean Taekwondo specialist opponent, what his expectations are for the fight, and what to expect from him in the near future. He even talks about how this fight is particularly special in relation to his daughter.
