TOP FC 5 Grand Prix Finalists

The first card of 2015 for TOP FC will go down on Saturday, February 7th at BEXCO in the southern port city of Busan, South Korea. This event will feature the Featherweight Grand Prix Final between Nova MMA representative Choi Young-Gwang and Team MAD prospect Jo Seung-Won.

It wasn’t an easy road but both these fighters earned their spot to compete for the first ever TOP FC featherweight championship. To get to this point both fighters had to win some tough fights but they got it done. Choi ended his quarterfinal bout at TOP FC 2 in a no-contest but went on to knock out heavy-handed Kim Dong-Gyu in the semifinals at TOP FC 4 to move on. Jo, on the other hand, finished both his opponents, Yoon Min-Uk by submission in the quarterfinals at TOP FC 3 and Han Sung-Hwa via TKO at TOP FC 4 in the semifinals to get to the finals.

Other than the main event, there are many other notables spread across the main card. In the co-main event, TOP FC veteran Kim Jae-Young, who is on a five fight winning streak with three finishes, will take on Former PXC title contender and Guam’s own Ryan Bigler. Also, undefeated, KO machine Kwak Kwan-Ho will be testing himself against PXC veteran Ricky “2 Slick” Camp. Another fighter that pops out on the card is Shooto: The Rookie Tournament Finals 2014 winner Kanazawa Isamu. He is undefeated and has either submitted or knocked out every adversary he has faced. The Japanese standout will collide with 11 year veteran and submission ace Kim Do-Hyung.

This card has four foreigners on the main card. That is the most that the TOP FC organization has had in their short history. This is a sign that MMA in Korea is growing and fighters from outside of the Korean peninsula are attracted to this market.
