Mark “El Terrible” Eddiva joins his Team Lakay team mate Dave Galera in the UFC as the second born and raised Filipino fighter in the world’s biggest MMA promotion. The news was confirmed to MMA-in-ASIA by Team Lakay founder/head coach Mark Sangiao.
Team Lakay’s Eddiva hails from the mountainous city of Baguio, Philippines. While pursuing his MMA career, he is on his last year in college at the University of the Cordilleras pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Eduaction.
As a Sanda specialist, Eddiva has won numerous titles in Sanshou on both the national and international circuits. He is the 2009 South East Asian Games 65 Kg Silver Medalist, 2011 World Wushu Bronze Medalist, and the 2011 South East Asian Games 65 Kg Gold Medalist alongside his cousin Eduard Folayang, who also bagged the gold medal at the 70 Kg limit that day. With those credentials in his resume, there is no doubt that the Filipino striking specialist will bring excitement inside the Octagon.
Eddiva is currently undefeated in his MMA career with 5-0 record; four via first-round stoppages. He is known for being a powerful featherweight who never backs down from any challenge. He showed how tough of a fighter he is in a bout with Muay Thai champion Alex Lee at Legend FC 4 in Hong Kong.
Eddiva is expected to make his UFC debut in UFC: TUF China Finale on March 1, 2014 at the 15,000 capacity venue Cotai Arena at The Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel. It has been reported that he will face the undefeated Chinese fighter Jumabieke Tuerxun in his UFC debut, but his coach Mark Sangiao isn’t completely certain of the opponent yet.
